The Veterinary investigation team  from directorate of Veterinary – Iraq, is present at the Dukan Dam for death of wild birds.

A technical team consisting of a group of expert veterinarians from the directorate of Veterinary in Iraq, are delegated to Sulemaniyah governorate, this team was accompanied by a local team from the General Directorate of animal wealth and Veterinary in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

 

the team was presented at the Dokan Dam to the west of Sulaymaniyah Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, where there have been cases of the death of a number of wild birds (gulls) in around the dam. The team is there to confirm the diagnosis of the  cases and take samples for laboratory examination and confirm the disease that caused birds’ death.

the samples will be tested at the central veterinary laboratory in Baghdad, and if necessary, will be sent to reference laboratory for more investigations.

local  veterinary authorities published an awareness to the people not to deal with wild birds, and to keep away from death birds, as they may be a health threat as they could carry zoonotic disease, a disease that   can transmitted from animals to humans.

At the same time a local veterinary teams from Raperin area  were in the field for implementing a campaign, in coordination with the Independent Administration of Raperin and Ranya Governor, buried all the birds ( Seagull bird) that died in the past few days.  They also sprayed the area of border with anti-viral .
