Dr. Meethaq, Abdul-Hussein Al-Khafaji, the deputy of the ministry of agriculture of Iraq , chaired the second meeting of the committee of the hemorrhagic fever disease of livestock CCHF , to follow up the monthly cases of hemorrhagic disease in livestock, in the presence of members of the committee, especially in conjunction with the visit to the city of Karbala.This was mentioned by a ministry site , and indicated that ; the meeting focused on the governorates with high foci of presence of the disease, it was directed to form a mobile teams by the veterinary department, as a follow up campaigns due to the foci and spraying the animal inhabited areas .The deputy of the ministry also pledges to intensify awareness campaigns about this disease and emphasize public awareness in cooperation with the veterinary departments (veterinary and extention) and hold well-known legal awareness seminars on this disease, as well as spraying places where the presence of animals , as well as determining the movement of animals and granting health certificates and approving Veterinarians’ reports for free. Later, it was approved to limit the freedom of random movement of animals between cities and prohibit that do not have health certificates.The meeting of the ministry confirms the prominent increase in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, and the correct guidance to the public, for buying animals from places that have been sprayed with pesticides to prevent the disease or ticks, as well as monitoring of slaughter places for health control measure.Iraq has witnessed a wave of hemorrhagic disease since the beginning of the current year 2023, and there are still ongoing cases, and their number in humans exceeded (505) cases, according to the ministry of health, despite all the success achieved by the veterinary institution throughout all Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region.The establishment of the plan of the control of hemorrhagic disease includes the following activities:- An awareness campaign for animal owners and the community through seminars and meetings, using the media and social media platforms, and in coordination with the health departments and the World Health Organization.- Campaigns of spraying insecticides to the places where animals are presented.- Follow-up meat shops
