It is a collaborative and participatory network, consisting of nine countries that have dromedary camel breeding (Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Qatar), this network is dedicated to camel health and dromedary breeding.Camel Middle East Network was officially launched during the annual meeting of the World Organization for Animal Health – WOAH – Regional Committee in Paris in May 2016.CaMeNet started as an initiative of the WOAH Biological Standards Committee, to share knowledge and help member countries better control camel diseases throughout the Middle East region and neighboring countries. For this reason, a sub-regional meeting of the Global Forum on Camel Diseases was held from 14 to 16 February 2016 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The meeting stressed the importance of the network and recommended the establishment of a sub-regional Camel Disease Network (CaMeNet) based in Abu Dhabi with the aim of developing the dromedary camel sector in that sub-region.
