Baghdad Veterinary Conference ends its activities

For the period from 5 to 6 May 2024, in the halls of the Al-Mansour Hotel in the capital, Baghdad, the Baghdad Veterinary Conference was held, which was held by the Veterinarians Syndicate in Iraq and organized by Nahrain Veterinary Magazine. The conference was held with the highest levels of parliamentary, governmental, Syndicate and media attendance, as well as the presence of foreign delegations. For the first time after the fall of the regime in 2003, a veterinary conference was held.

News websites reported that several parties participated in the opening ceremony of the conference, including: The Agriculture, Water and Marshlands Committee is represented by the Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Mrs. Zozan Kujar, and a number of advisors. The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Saleh Jabr Al-Maliki, and the Technical Undersecretary, Dr. Mithaq Abdul Hussein Al-Khafaji, also participated in the conference. It was attended by agents and representatives of a number of ministries (Interior, Environment, Higher Education and Scientific Research), the Prime Minister’s Advisory Board, government institutions and agencies, and a number of civil society organizations. Delegations from many countries (Jordan, Emirates, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt) also participated in the conference for the first time, as did a high-level delegation consisting of His Excellency the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, Mrs. Bikard Talabani, and a number of advisors. And the general managers and directors of veterinary departments in the region’s governorates. A delegation from the Veterinarians Syndicate in the Kurdistan Region also participated. Thus, the conference is considered a platform that brought together multiple local and international parties.
Dr. mentioned. Diyar Tayyeb Barwari, editor-in-chief of Al-Nahrain Veterinary Magazine, said that the idea of organizing the conference focused on making the conference different from previous conferences, by organizing a group of events in it, as the first day was allocated for the opening ceremony, and after that there were three important topics. It is involved in the country’s general policy, including the axis of government service, maintaining health and developing livestock, the axis of investment in the veterinary sector, livestock projects and creating job opportunities, the axis of higher and academic education and vocational training. The first day also included an exhibition of sponsoring companies and several side meetings. While the second day focused on lectures that varied between academic lectures in one hall and lectures for sponsoring companies in another hall, it was also accompanied by a group of meetings, the most important of which was the meeting of the Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Mithaq Abdul Hussein with the foreign delegations participating in the conference, in addition to the continuation of the exhibition for companies. At the end of the second day, there was a closing ceremony and the distribution of certificates and commemorative shields.

The companies sponsoring the conference participated in its success, and the diamond sponsoring company (Iraq Al-Rafidain Bird, K9, and Falcon Club) had a wonderful and impressive presence, not only through financial support for the conference, but also for carrying out a large number of activities over the two days and on the sidelines. The conference held lectures and brought in veterinary experts and guests. The conference proved that there is an open field for joint work with the private sector, and this was an indication that the provision to members and companies was fruitful and positive.
The other sponsorship was distributed and divided among the companies in Baghdad and the region as follows:
Health care, Sukhtian Sons Company
Platinum Care, for Al Jazeera Company
The silver sponsorship was for (Private Company, Green Splendor, Karbala Deserts, Samir Al-Nada, Yara Chicken, Dimah Company, Shams Al-Bitar, Jabal Al-Khairat).
The head of the Syndicate of Veterinarians in Iraq, Dr., mentioned. Globe said that the presence of the media in the corridors of the conference was clear, and what is interesting about the matter is that the media did not target only the first day and the opening, but they were present on the second day as well and covered a number of important paragraphs. The number of media outlets (visual, audio and print) has exceeded forty local and international institutions. This in itself is a sign of the conference reaching its planned goals.
Mr. Captain pointed out that the participation in the conference was unparalleled, exceeding a thousand participants, and there was a great demand for participation, which necessitated not selling packages, and this in itself put great pressure on the Ceremonies and Reception Committee. The number of attendees on the first day exceeded 500 people. There was a feeling among those at the conference of the need for these gatherings, and there was a recurring scene in that many of the participants had the opportunity to meet colleagues and friends who had not been able to meet for some time.
It is noteworthy that the Baghdad Veterinary Conference was better and more successful than any conference held by an Iraqi syndicate during the past years, according to the statement of some media figures, lecturers, and quite a few participants in the conference, which makes the conference a starting point for the future and has held the syndicate with greater responsibility. In working hard and communicating with members on the one hand, and with other entities related to veterinary, on the other hand, as well as holding various workshops and seminars that are in the interest of the syndicate and the profession.
The conference resulted in a set of recommendations that will be announced by the syndicate , which focused on the topics mentioned in it and how to develop and improve the veterinary profession in Iraq.

It’s over.
