The veterinary department was formed as a public company and started its work on 1/4/2001. The media website of the department states that the department provides veterinary services (preventive and curative) to protect livestock from the danger of endemic and imported diseases, and contributes to any other activity related to preserving them and protecting human health by combating Common diseases and the department in order to achieve its activity and carry out the following activities:1- Developing and implementing preventive and curative plans and programs to protect livestock from diseases.2- Clinical and laboratory diagnosis of animal diseases. 3- Protecting livestock from imported diseases by applying border quarantine measures on animals and their products entering the country. 4- Veterinary health supervision of livestock projects by supplying them with medicines, vaccines and veterinary supplies according to the plans prepared for this purpose, and giving technical advice in the field of animal health. 5- Evaluation of the effectiveness and safety of medicines, vaccines, veterinary supplies, biological materials, imported and local feed additives, and the materials used in their production. 6- Importing and purchasing medicines, vaccines, veterinary supplies, biological materials and any other materials that fall within its production or needs. 7- Contributing to preserving public health through developing and implementing programs to control and eradicate common diseases. 8- Granting the international veterinary health certificate for live animals and their products intended for export outside the country.9- Health supervision of slaughterhouses, meat inspection and meat shops. 10- Granting veterinary health licenses to slaughterhouses for slaughtering animals and poultry. 11- Granting a veterinary health license to a butcher shop and practicing the profession. 12- Granting a license to establish factories for the production of medicines, veterinary preparations, and feed additives, and technical supervision thereof. 13- Granting a license for a veterinary pharmacy and a laboratory for veterinary analyzes.14- Granting approvals for the import of medicines, vaccines, preparations, veterinary supplies, feed additives and the materials involved in their production. 15- Conducting research, preparation and studies related to animal health and public health, or coordinating with other research agencies.
