History and archeology scholars agree that the land of the two rivers Tigris and Euphrates (Mesopotamia) has created the oldest civilizations and empires in the world that published legislative texts written in the cuneiform language that talk about the organization of life in it. The beginning was from the law (Ari Ka Kina) URUKAGINA during the reign of the first kingdom of Sumer (2200) BC. This was followed by the Ur-Nammu Law, which consisted of (58) articles. Until we came to the law of the great king (Hammurabi) Hammurabi (1795-1750) BC. M. Which consisted of more than (300) articles, of which (282) articles were identified.Veterinary medicine has been mentioned in this law (obelisk). And this approach in the field of dealing with animals and not harming them and ensuring their proper treatment was the real beginning of what is currently known as animal compassion and veterinary ethics. The Code of Hammurabi mentioned what we can call the legal beginning of veterinary medicine, that is, the presence of people whose main profession is the treatment of animals, as he allocated two subjects to it. Here we mention Article (224), which states: “If a doctor treats a heavy wound to a calf or a donkey and revives it, then the owner of the calf or donkey must give the doctor one-sixth of the silver as his fee.” And Article (225) which states: “If he treats a calf or a donkey A donkey was severely wounded and it mortified it, so he must pay the owner of the calf or donkey one-fifth of its price. Although these two articles are penal in terms of form, they definitively indicate the sophistication of the laws at that time. However, we focus on the professional aspect that was mentioned in them, so whoever works in this field, that is, treating animals, was called (the doctor), and this person had to be a craftsman in his work, otherwise he would pay a fine for every mistake he made. We can imagine that there will be some kind of training in this field and a well-known work kit, as well as a place to manufacture and sell those medical materials or work supplies. The oldest written texts related to veterinary treatments and medicines date back to ancient Egypt, around (1900) years BC. What is called (Papyrus the priest) Papyrus of Kahun as scholars point out that India was practicing this profession at a similar time.Archaeologists mention that the oldest person who practiced the veterinary profession was in Mesopotamia, who lived before (3000) years BC. And his name is Urlugaledinna, as he was an expert in treating animals. From this ancient history and to the subsequent development, it resulted in the French physician Claude Bourgelat establishing a college or (school) for veterinary medicine in the French city of Lyon in the year 1761 AD
