Many veterinarians believe that the sudden rise in influenza cases among dogs is likely due to the pandemic.The American Veterinary Medical Association confirmed this through its page on social media platforms. As I quoted a statement by Dr. (Mitchell Fry) from Como Park Animal Hospital in St. Paul, that the sudden rise in cases of dog flu is likely due to the epidemic and that the important thing is that with the emergence of the Covid pandemic, more dogs were adopted within the kennels and veterinary centers and that more dogs stayed at home. So, as we're seeing an increase in the number of pets adopted and it's in shelters the number is much more than that, and so we're seeing a higher uptick and we're seeing that in other cities as well. It is known that the canine influenza vaccine is of limited use at present. Therefore, veterinarians advise that if a person has an older dog and suffers from heart disease or a history of upper respiratory infections, they are more encouraged to take vaccinations or dogs that we know will be boarding for a long time or are at risk of infection.One of the current precautions is that if an infected dog arrives, which is believed to be dog flu, the staff working in veterinary centers and clinics take additional precautions and go out to the car in full personal protective equipment. And they are received outside and are never allowed to touch the ground, so that they do not spread anything on the ground because isolation (quarantine) and good hygiene are essential in preventing and limiting the spread of the disease.<\/p>\n<\/div>
