It is known that the first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970, when a United States senator from Wisconsin organized a national demonstration to raise awareness about environmental issues. Rallies took place across the country and, by the end of the year; the U.S. government had created the Environmental Protection Agency. The April 22 date was selected in part because it fell between colleges' spring break and final exams, and also from the observance of Arbor Day, which began in Nebraska in 1872, a day when people are encouraged to plant trees.In 1969 at a UNESCO Conference in San Francisco, peace activist John McConnell proposed a day to honor the Earth and the concept of peace, to first be observed on March 21, 1970, the first day of spring in the northernThe UN General Assembly (UNGA) designated 22 April as International Mother Earth Day through resolution A\/RES\/63\/278, adopted in 2009. Veterinarians have a great role in this regard, as they play a role in both protection the environment and providing healthy environment for animals. Veterinarians need to take care of their profession by introducing the environment protection in their daily approach and work.<\/p>\n<\/div>
