The directorate of veterinary at the Ministry of Agriculture – Iraq , has recorded (6) cases of hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) since the beginning of this year, and announced the continuation of prevention campaigns to contain the disease. This came in a report published in (Al-Sabah) daily newspaper issued on 4/5/2023, where the director of The directorate of veterinary Dr. Thamer Habib, stated Hamza Al-Khafaji), indicated that his office started its preventive campaigns early, ahead of its scheduled date in the spring and autumn, to limit the spread of hemorrhagic fever.It is known that (379) cases of the disease were recorded during last year, while this year (6) cases appeared (4) of them in (Nasiriyah) and (2) in the rest of the governorates, while two deaths were recorded, one in (Karbala) and the other in (Nasiriyah) according to the report, it also mentioned that (293) veterinary teams for spraying pesticides, are carrying out their work in all governorates, as part of a national campaign that began on the 8th of last March and will continue for a renewable month in order to control and contain the disease. The Committee for Health Oversight and Inspection of Slaughterhouses, in cooperation with health control teams, environmental departments, the National Security Apparatus and municipalities, implemented a joint campaign on local markets and meat shops, and took the necessary measures against violators, with the destruction of streets butchers' tools and in indiscriminate slaughter areas.
