Media news indicated that there is a emergence of cases of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in the Soran area –Erbil, region Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The veterinary authority in the region has to move quickly, as these losses are disastrous for breeders and the national income impact. There must be unity and coordination in disease control programs between Erbil and Baghdad and also border control protocol to be implemented. Both should also benefit from the private sector and veterinary clinics.Transparency requires that Iraq, as a member of the World Organization for Animal Health #woah, to report the disease and publish it to the public.
